„Psychosomatic Medicine is the science and medicine of the mutual influences of psychosocial and physical processes. The Clinic and Policlinic for Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy at the University Hospital Bonn focuses for over 15 years on psychosomatic disorders. Patients with psychological problems and related physical and social problems are treated by an experienced team of physicians, psychologists and other therapists with different therapeutic orientations.“


Focus of Treatment:

Eating disorders
anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder

Somatoform disorders
medically unexplained symptoms with psychosomatic causes; e.g. chronic pain, cardiovascular symptoms or gastrointestinal symptoms

Anxiety disorders and Depression
panic disorder, agoraphobia, social phobia, generalized anxiety, depression

Adjustment disorders
anxiety and depression in the context of a major life event, e.g. a serious somatic illness

Other Diseases
obsessive-compulsive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, personality disorders

Therapy
Multimodal in-patient psychosomatic-psychotherapeutic interventions with psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral group and individual therapy, body-oriented therapy, relaxation, art therapy, pharmacotherapy. Interventions are mainly given in German.
