Content: Gross human anatomy is studied by dissection of human bodies. Both a systematic, organ-centred and a topographic approach are combined
Assessment: 1 written (introductory) and 4-5 oral exams. In these, learning progress has to be documented by explaining the structure of gross anatomical specimens and the implications of the structures surveyed for the function of the human body.
Knowledge and skills achieved: Basic knowledge of the human anatomy and its application to a systematic physical examination
Biochemistry II including

Content: General topics in biochemistry. Topics follow lecture
Content: Molecular Biology, Mechanism of intracellular sorting; Hormones, regulatory mechanisms of metabolism. Extracellular matrix, Cytoskeleton, Blood, Liver, Muscle, Immunology
Knowledge and skills achieved: Full knowledge of all topics dealt with in lecture, seminar and practical
Physiology I including
Practical Cell Physiology and Physiology
Content: Introduction into Laboratory work in small groups. Topics of neuro-, muscular-, cardiovascular-, respiratory- and renal-physiology as well as sensory physiology.
Pathophysiological aspects of muscle contraction and synaptic transmission in the CNS and PNS.
Assessment: MCQ examination
Content: Discussion of experiments; theoretical background and pathophysiological aspects
Assessment: Oral presentation of one topic
Content: Intercellular communication, motor and integrative functions of the nervous system, sensory physiology.
